THE ART OF ANIMATION
Think animation is just for kids? Come have your preconceptions changed at the NODA Film Festival.
This June, the NODA Film Festival is "Exploring Animation", showcasing the many forms of animated art from around the world. The festival offers something for everyone, including Anime, classic cartoons, Oscar Award winning shorts, a puppet version of "Alice in Wonderland," and much more.
In recent years, animation has entered the cultural mainstream. Once dismissed as cartoons for kids, it's now become popular entertainment, conquering prime time television and the multiplex. The NODA Film Festival surveys the wide world of animation, but this isn't your typical Disney and Pixar fare!
The festival explores claymation, computer, experimental, pin-screen, puppetry, and stop-action animation to showcase the many unsung gems of the genre. Anyone who hasn't been paying close attention to animation will be amazed by these sophisticated, provocative, and entertaining films.
We're offering some undisputed classics, as well as some hard-to-find gems that you won't see anywhere else! The festival has gone out of its way to present these films in the best possible prints and in their correct aspect ratios.
So take a break from the summer heat and enjoy an overview of animation at the historic Neighborhood Theater. All for free! An open cash bar, popcorn, candy, and other refreshments will be available.
We hope to see you there.
